“Ding Dong” it’s dinnertime!

Ordering out has become more popular than ever before with the explosion of food delivery systems. Gone are the days of even picking up the phone to call in an order for food to be delivered. There are tons of these delivery companies now and each one has their own app and benefits. But, which one is the best? I did a little digging and even tested out a few to find out.

Delivery

Beyond Menu

This app is one of the more popular, according to google ratings. It has been downloaded more than a million times, has 69,000 reviews on Google and Google rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. Beyond menu hosts restaurants from more than 18 cities in the United States including; Baltimore, Miami, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.

I tried Beyond Menu’s app when I was in search of Chinese food delivered for dinner. I love Chinese and honestly could eat it every day, unfortunately, the calories and cost would add up and take me down. Anyways, I chose to search the Chinese food options offered through this app and found my favorite local Chinese restaurant, Hong Kong Kitchen.

Of course, I chose this restaurant and had a customarily good meal as we always do from this restaurant. I must say that I was also very pleased with the app. It was easy to use, a relatively low delivery fee and a reasonable minimum purchase cost.

However, the minimum purchase cost and delivery fee may vary from restaurant to restaurant. Some restaurants offer coupons or “first-order” deals with a promo code. The type of available restaurants to order from these apps will depend on your location.

Delivery

DoorDash

Doordash is a widely known delivery app name. They are rather popular having been downloaded more than 10 million times, have 510,000 reviews on Google and Google rating of 4.5 out of 5. Doordash can be used in more than 600 cities in the United States and Canada. In fact, they deliver for over 30 restaurants country-wide.

I tried this app over the summer. My husband and I were excited to try a new pizza place in town, Broadway Pizza. The pizza had a great flavor and the slices were New York style. We thought it was great except for the cost. We ordered a regular large cheese pie which had 8 slices. The cost? $24.73!

We have a “regular” pizza place that we order from in town and when we do, we get a party tray size of cheese pizza (which has 30 slices) for $20. This, of course, is not Doordash’s fault. In fact, Doordash is great in that they offer delivery from fast food restaurants, pizza joints, and much more! They also offer a “no minimum” purchase cost. Delivery charges vary by restaurant.

Grubhub

Grubhub also has 10 million downloads, but they have a Google rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars and 250 Google reviews. Grubhub can deliver 12+ types of cuisine to over 23 restaurants in more than 30 cities around the country. Grubhub offers delivery to a nice variety of places including my personal favorite, Hong Kong Kitchen! As you can guess, that is where I chose to order from to test this delivery service. The service was fast and polite. I actually ended up using this service twice!

delivery

UberEats

UberEats is by far the most popular choice in food delivery service. Their app has been downloaded 50 million times, they have 1 million reviews on Google but, they only have a 4.2 out of 5-star rating on Google. UberEats is unique in that their app can be downloaded and used internationally! That’s right! They serve more than 20 countries worldwide! I have not personally ordered with the UberEats app. However, I think it’s safe to say that 50 million people have downloaded and used the app for a good reason.
